I know that the common app can't really do any formatting... so no italics. However, italics are somewhat important in my essays... I use them in my everyday writing, so of course i have used them in my essays as well. I know that online is encouraged, but in order to put the italics on the essay I guess I'll need to just sent it in on paper.
Do you guys know how I could write in italics on the common app (PDF format) and then print out.. or ... just somehow get italics on there? thanks.

Couldn't you just put the answer in the "additional info" section? Or the long essay, you upload anyway and thus can use italics.

oh so it'd show up?
... but what about the short essays that are on the supplements and stuff?

Sorry, but you have no chance to do italics there.

Don't worry about it, really. Use quotation marks if you absolutely have to.

There are several tens of thousands of people from all over the country (and world even) using the common app to apply... the admission committees know that you can't use fancy formatting with the common app and you're not the only one with this problem. Don't worry about it.
