Writing in text books okay?

Do you guys every take notes in library text books or books? I always jot little things down on the side... I mean, I think they are REALLY helpful to other readers... I've even spotted some mistakes and added on. Do you guys think this is okay? I don't want to be posting post-its everywhere... lol

i don't know what this has to do with college...but yea i've seen that before. if i write in my txt books i usually erase it but i LOVE getting books that are all written in. its so much fun to see what people wrote and sometimes they put the answers in and save you tons of work

Writing in textbooks is a mortal sin a my school, but then again we don't buy our books. If we write in our books, they will make us buy them.

I love it when people write funny little things or tips in my textbooks. It brings it to life!

P.S. Levicorpus

hahahah! nice HP reference

I personally think it's great to write in textbooks. It helps give you and other readers in the future more to work with.

I remember some guy who wrote in my Geometry book left me some really great hints on hard problems that led me to figure it out without having to ask for extra help.

But...don't write stupid **** like "Johnny is gay" or "Book belongs to Michael Jackson"

hmm well at my school we're not allowed to write in text books (cuz they're school owned) and the only textbook that I've ever encountered excessive writing in was my Functions/Stats/trig book. And the person who wrote in the textbook did the problems wrong.

So writing in text books annoys me. Haha I don't trust other people's abilities to do things correctly.

We don't buy our books, so I usually don't do much to them, but I will leave notes to the person from next year. Not to them, persay, but random stuff that I think I would find funny if I found the note. Like, I drew a facetious picture of my math teacher, whom I hate, and left it in my math book, and I left a really funny back and forth note between my friend and I.

I take notes in text books when i really want to remember something and don't have posteds around, it is great to get a book that already has notes on it

I really do not like writing in text books, but don't mind if someone else writes something comical. However, usually I just find a drawing of a ***** or something =/

I always leave little tips in my potions book. :-P

Technically, we are not suppoed to write in our books. Sometimes I write on them because I don't feel like getting a piece of paper or I may not have one.

Sectumsempra: Use on enemies.

Okay, last HP joke :P

Anyway, the only times we're allowed are when we write our names on the inside cover. Other than that, people mostly write stupid crap so no, we're not allowed.

We aren't allowed to write in the books, and I don't do it myself. But I love to see other people's notes in the books. It turns a monster textbook into something with personality.

We aren't allowed to write to the extent that they check up on it. At the beginning of the year we fill out forms that state all the pages with tears, wrinkles, and permanent writing. This also includes damage to the binding and covers. Then at the end of the year, we give the books back and they supposedly check them. If there's enough damage they'll make you pay for it, but I don't think any teachers actually check the books. They have better things to do than sit and go through textbooks to look for writing.

The person who had my algebra II textbook wrote all the work to the problems in it.
Unfortunately, it was almost always wrong. Drove me insane...

Wow, JB, that's pretty extensive checking...

I love it when I can't figure out how to go about doing a math problem and the person who used the textbook last wrote their work in it. :D

Generally, I don't see too much wrong with it, as long as you write something related to the subject matter.
