My mistakes in the writing mc part are usually because of idioms. Does anyone know how to study these? Should I memorize them or what?

Memorizing all the idioms on the SAT, save the wrong prepositional idioms you miss on practice tests, is a waste of time. Instead of that, you should read good writing and see how prepositional idioms are used with verbs. Doing so isn’t a perfect strategy, but it’s fine since wrong idioms aren’t very common in the test.

Agreed. There are too many idioms to try to memorize them. Your best bet is just to be more conversant with good writing. Instead of trying to memorize lists, spend the time you would be doing that reading the NY times.

Focus on other areas of the writing section. Do not bother memorizing idioms because there are just too many. Spending time to master the other areas of the writing section would be a better use of your time because idiom questions don’t come up too often on the writing section.

Assuming you only make mistakes on idiom questions and get all the other questions right coupled with a 12 essay, getting a 800 is still very possible.
