Hi all,

I am putting together a resume for the very first time. I will be a senior next year in high school, and it's high time I made one.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where to start. Can anyone please help me?

Much appreciated.

What are you planning to use the resume for (this will effect what you put on it)?

Education:
High School
- GPA
- SAT (or ACT)
Academic Achievements
- Award
- Award
Work Experience
-
-
Extracurricular
- President of Student Council
- What you did
-
- Editor in Chief of school newspaper

Thanks!

Should I add a brief, one sentence description for all the awards as well?

Yes. It is hard to indent on CC, but for each work experience and EC you should include a brief description of what you did.

Ahh, okay, that’s very helpful, thanks!

How long should it be? No longer than one page? Or is two pages fine?

[College Application Resumes - Part 1 - YouTube](<a href=“College Application Resumes - Part 1 - YouTube”>College Application Resumes - Part 1 - YouTube)
there are also parts 2 and 3

One page.

When you are in college then list relevant courses, plus research.

Alright!

Also, is it necessary to also include a description for academic achievements?? (Such as National Merit Finalist, etc)

@oldfort mentioned that it was necessary to have one for things extracurriculars/work experience

I think pretty much anyone likely to read your resume will know what a National Merit Finalist is. But a lot of achievements are not obvious to those outside of the field; when in doubt add a descriptive line.
