Writing placement dilemma

Hi, Incoming freshman here.

So I got my "Counselor's Recommendations" not too long ago and it told me that I needed to take my Writing placement test before I could enroll in any writing classes.

Since I'm coming from out of state, I won't be arriving in San Diego until at least after my assigned enrollment time(sept 1st).

It seems to me that my options are:

A) Go to San Diego before Sept 1st, take placement test, then enroll
B) Hope for other possible options tomorrow at E-Advising

=P college is confusing to me

A’s out of the question. some people are abroad and unavailable to get down there. (i’d just plain refuse.)

now that it’s monday, what happened?

I just posted a similar thread before reading through other posts (shame on me) and I am in a similar boat. I found a page that said there would be awpe tests given on campus sept 21, but my question is how this will affect our fall schedules when we take the test so late.

They recommend you to sign up for the SDCC class and the other writing class that you want/need to take. If you pass the AWPE you can drop the SDCC class without any worries and it won’t show up on your transcripts, but if you don’t pass the AWPE you have the class and don’t have to waitlist. In my case I’m in ERC and have to take MMW (Making of the Modern World: 6 quarters). There are no prerequisites for MMW 1, but for MMW 2 I have to pass the placement exam or take the SDCC course. I can take MMW 1 and SDCC concurrently. So im signing up for both MMW 1 and the SDCC course and will see how things play out in September after I take the test.

Hope this helped :)

haha thank you so much. That sounds like a good idea.
