<p>Has anybody received info about the placement exam that we're supposed to take in May? I haven't heard anything about it and I was wondering if I should have by now. Are they contacting via mail or email?</p>

<p>yeah, the letter is your ticket to take the test. it tells you which high school to attend to take the test and that you need to bring that letter to the high school to take it so it is a very important letter!</p>
<p>aren’t you exempt if you got a 680 + on writing section in your SAT 1 ?</p>

yes you are exempt if you get 680 or higher on the SAT I Writing or SAT II. There’s also an AP exemption score, but I’m not sure what that is.</p>
<p>Which SAT II? The only English related one is literature, and I got above 680 for that and still need to take the AWPE test.</p>

<p>It says SAT II Writing. It also doesn’t say anything about SAT I writing, but I passed out of the requirement or I wouldn’t have been able to take my two writing courses.</p>
<p>Ohh, thanks. It’s dated I think, since the SAT II writing has apparently been discontinued in '05, lol.</p>

Why doesnt this page say 680+ in writing SAT 1?</p>

<p>I would trust the UC website more than the UCSD one. I believe that if you never got an email, you should be fine.</p>
<p>If I were you guys, i take this test seriously. I know people who have to take SDCC several times because the essay at the end of the class is tough to pass. Luckily I passed AP English so I was exempt</p>

yeah, passing either of the AP English exams exempt you.</p>
<p>i heard it was hard too from friends that didnt pass ap english lang and had to take the writing placement despite being in ap english lit since those scores dont come out until july.
but then again i was also surprised they didnt pass the ap english lang exam.</p>
