Anyone know what weight the Adcoms put on the writing portion of the SAT 1? Do they weigh it evenly with the M and the V ?

From what I can recall at an information session I attended, those applying for Fall 06, they were not going to put much weight in them because they had nothing to compare it to. Furthermore, they would only use it to see how proficiently you write, but they say that their application takes care of that. So for now, they are not going to value it much, but in years to come when they can compare numbers, they might.

I don't think very many top schools place much value on the SAT2 writing, as the test doesn't show them much. It tests the ability to recognize common grammatical errors and the ability to write a shallow, 15-sentence essay. If you got a good score, that's great. If not, your grades in english classes and good essays will probably matter a good bit more, anyway.

Yeah, I agree with both cav & tf0rd. As long as you write an excellent essay for your UVa application you'll be fine.
