For anyone who has taken this exam: What is it like?

So I remember taking it before classes even started. I am a Sophomore Mech E, and I had to take Writing 1. Only a small percentage of the class actually passes out of Writing 1, so I would not bank on you testing out. We were given an article about sweat shops in China and how people want to work there so they can get money for food and living costs. We then had to choose whether the author’s view was reasonable or not, and give our own evidence about our choice. You are given a little blue book to write in, and the article is not too long, but it will be a time crunch because I think you are given between 1.5 and 2 hours (I do not remember that part exactly). Writing 1 is not that bad, and if you have to take it, you have to take it. I met some cool people in the class, and my TA was really cool, so the class was not a waste (most kids get A’s and B’s, but it really depends on how picky the TA is). Hope this helps! :)

Actually, supposedly about half the kids who take the placement exam pass.

My year was something to do with torture. You were NOT supposed to pick a side, but rather analyze the passage that we had been given.

(I passed, and didn’t have to take writing 1)
