A(If Maria had been) willing to ask B(for directions), then she would C(not have gotten lost) and D(reached her) destination sooner. E No Error

Thoughts?

I’m thinkin’ it’s D… all of the other verbs have the “had” or “have”, but D does not, so it’s not parallel with the rest of the question. Should be, "and would have reached her…

As the sentence is now, it’s implying that she “got lost” and also “reached her destination sooner”, but she did not reach her destination sooner, and therefore, it must be modified.

But wouldn’t the “would” encompass all of the “not have gotten lost and reached her destination sooner”?

bump10char PSAT in a few days! NEED HELP

what’s the answer?

D is the answer

so read my explanation above… that’s why it’s wrong…

as it is now, the sentence is saying that “she had gotten lost” AND that she “reached her destination sooner”

logically, you can’t get lost and get somewhere sooner, and the sentence is saying that she didn’t get there sooner, so it has to be modified to “would have gotten there sooner”, because she did not actually get there sooner

Thanks!!!
