Writing Question

I learned that I should build plywood enclosures in each of my (parents' backyards) so that Rose would be safe year-round.

A. No change
B. parent's backyards
C. parents backyards
D. parents backyards,

You eliminate both C and D. You are left with A and B. I chose B because each parent "owns" a backyard, right? (they are divorced?) But the correct answer is A. Can you please explain why?

P.S. Silverturtle provided an explanation, but I don't understand his reasoning.

you wouldn’t say “each of my parent”; however, you would say “each of my parents” and then you just add the possessive to parents- parents’ backyards. I hope this helps you. I don’t really know how to explain it further than that.

Thanks a lot! I guess it helps to put the answer in another context.
