writing question

hi, i was just going through a example test when a stumbled upon this writing question

Digital technology, as every marketer knows, is synonymous (to) speed, precision, and the future.
(A) to
(B) of
(C) with
(D) for
(E) through

i answered correctly c but that was more luck than knowledge. how am i supposed to learn these prepositions? english is not my first language and i don't know what to do because i usually get these wrong.

yosei, to be honest, for these, you just have to know. There are no set rules for these preposition-idiom type questions. They're annoying itty-bitty things you simply have to remember.

This is another type of question that Collegeboard likes to reward avid readers with. You become familiar with a lot of these if you read; and they'll stick better than memorizing idioms from a list.
