Writing question!

From about A.D 700 to 1600, sculptors created nearly 1000 colossal rock statues on the remote and tiny Eastern Island. No error

I thought "created" should be "had created" since the sentence mentions a timeframe, but the correct answer is E, no error.

Any ideas?

Of course there is no error !Why do you think there is ?
'had created' is a past perfect tense. You do not need past perfect in this sentence, the past simple 'created' is fine.

If you said "had created," you would expect the sentence to go on and say something else like:

From about A.D 700 to 1600, sculptors had created nearly 1000 colossal rock statues on the remote and tiny Eastern Island, until...

Just saying created is fine here. Created implies a habitual or repeated action, not only a one time thing. Therefore, you could say created even though it mentions a timeframe.

^ thanks for clarifying this up.
