<p>1) C. because slightly is describing differently, which is in turn describing how the feathers are shaped (hence both being adverbs). Rest fail to do this correctly.</p>

<p>2) A. B+C are wrong because look how the answers would have been followed in the since “…to”. And D is wrong because will requires “be” to follow it.
Not sure why you cut out the beginning of the sentence.</p>
