Writing Questions from the Blue Book-please help!

The first question is:

Flints found in/U the region extending from the Nile Valley to/U the highlands of Eastern Iraq attests to/Uthe presence of people there as long ago as/U one hundred thousand years.(E)
(p166 blue book) The right answer was C but I dont know how to correct the sentence and where the subject and main verb are.

The second one is:

Maude Adams, after her spectacular triumph as/U the original Peter Pan, went about/U heavy veiled/U and was accessible to only a handful/U of intimate friend.(E)
(p192 blue book) The key is E but I am confused about C. Why isnt it "heavily veiled" instead of "heavy veiled"? And is "went about heavy veiled" like in idiom or smth?

Please help me out with this. I REALLY need to raise my writing score:-s
Thanks in advance.

For the first one, the subject is the plural “Flints.” Therefore, the verb should be “attest.” The test makers often put long phrases between the subject and verb to throw you off.

For the second one, “heavy” is an adjective used to modify a noun or pronoun. “Heavily” is an adverb used to modify a verb, adjective, or other adverb. Since “veiled” is an adjective, it needs “heavily.”

Thanks so muchhhhh XD
I got them now :D
