writing questions help!

I'm confused with the concepts of participle modifiers.
ex: walking down the street, I saw beautiful scenery

Would it be okay to switch the participle modifier at the end? like this: I saw beautiful scenery, walking down the street.
^ that doesn't really sound right, it sounds as if the modifier was modifying the scenery and not "I".

so if i want to modify something, i have to put that clause right next to the noun/pronoun I'm trying to modify right?

here's a writing question from the BB.
The tragic story of Paolo and Francesca wast he subject of a poem and a symphony, being popular throughout the nineteenth century.
^is the sentences correct? or is the error being, because being is all the way at the end and I think it should be at the beginning to modify "The tragic story".

For your first question, yes, you shouldn’t put it at the end. You always want to put it next to the noun you’re modifying or even better: As I walked down the street, I saw beautiful scenery.
And as for the second question, the sentence makes it unclear which noun it’s modifying. If it is modifying tragic story it should be something like: The tragic story of Paolo and Francesca, which had been popular throughout the nineteenth century, wast the subject of a poem and a symphony

oh sorry, typo! wast he, is actually “was the”.

please anymore people want to share some advice?
