Writing questions :)

Q.The cost of (safely disposing) of the toxic chemicals (is approximately) (five time what) the company paid (to purchase it.)
(No error.)

Q.When for the first time the United States imported more oil than it exported,Americans should have realised that an energy crisis (was imminent and could happen in the future).
C.is an imminent thing
D.might be imminent

thanks!

Q1: Indeed no error. Where do you think the error is?
Q2: It is generally better to use an adjective rather than using the adj+thing phrase, as the latter is awkward and unnecessarily wordy. Would you say “Playing video games is a fun thing” or “Playing video games is fun”? Which one is concise, less awkward, and straight to the point?

Sorry I believe the answer is D after a second read-through!
It should be THEM, because the company is purchasing chemicals. We have pronoun-noun disagreement here. They do not agree in number. (pl - sing)

Thanks Bethany.

Is it really “five time” on your source or is the missing S a typo on your part?

it’s a typo my bad

1 is A, D purchase them not purchase it
