why is the answer "each year". I put (A) but I realize that the subject was switched.

Thanks for the help. The questions are from the January 2005 test i think.

For the first question, “who rode an American mustang to victory in a 3,000-mile race across the Arabian Desert” is just an adjective clause and therefore it should not take into account for the answer. Also, “is” is the correct singular verb modifying the subject, Frank. T. Hopkins.
11. This is more of a parallelism and idiomatic type of question. The idiom you have to know is “as…as” and the parallelism you want to maintain is “as…Ecuador…as…inhabit North America”

The subject is not clear…Who is pressing the button? Pressing is a verb and therefore, a subject has to modify it…Is the vacuum Cleaner pressing the button? I think not.

This is a tough one…i got that wrong too…I think “waited” should be “had waited” but not really sure.

“each year” is redundant because earlier in the sentence, “annually” is already mentioned.

fresh101’s solution for 26 is correct. Because so many things are going on at once, you need the “had waited” form of the verb to clarify the sentence with sequencing.
