Hey guys, sorry if this is a question you all have answered a million times, but as much as I ask people, I can never really seem to get a straight answer... for the writing requirement (1 year) for med school, do the writing classes have to be specifically in the writing department, or is it alright if your courses are in the literature department. For example, would a course like "Literature and Cultural Studies" in the Dept. of Lit. satisfy the requirement? Or does it have to explicitly say "writing" in the title? And also, if you took a writing class, but the course title doesn't say anything about writing, literature, etc., how would you indicate this on a primary or secondary application? I'd hate to get screwed over simply because the title of my course doesn't clearly show that it's it's a writing course...
Thanks for the help!

Usually they say "English requirement" with a preference for writing intensive...but they're not going to get really touchy about stuff as they don't have the time to investigate everyone's course content. Take 2 semesters of courses offered by your English department and you'll be fine. You should be taking a writing intensive English course anyways just for personal gain, so another semester of something will be fine. Again, just make sure it's an offering from the English dept and you shouldn't have any problems. I took "20th Cent Fiction" and "Health and Illness in Literature" along with Honors Comp II, and that seemed more than adequate.
