writing requirement

Why is College Writing 1A (aka R1A) 6 units??? That is more units than just about every other course in the catolog. Is it harder, meets more often, more work? What's with that?

because if you cant ap out of the requirement, pass subject A, or get a 680 in sat2 writing, then you have a problem. unless youre out-of-country

The next test is not until late Sept, so 1A has to be taken. Why is it 6 units?

Huh? you can skip it. I'm confused, theres one entry writing requirement which you can skip with a good sat writing score. the college of engineering also has a college writing requirement. are these the same? and can i skip it with a good sat score?

I found out that unless you place out of College Writing via SAT II or AP or placement test, you must take the next available placement test in Sept. Otherwise, you can't take any English courses (or others with the College Writing as a prereq). You can't just sign up for basic College Writing unless you actually fail this placement test.
(The only alternative to the above is to take a transferable College Writing course at a JC.)
