Transfer student who is a little shocked to see I need so many more courses to fill the Writing Requirement courses... when I see a class that says it fills the:

ENGR: Area WRT - Writing
L&S : Area WRT - Writing

Does this mean it will fill UCSB Writing Requirements for graduation? Also- I have quite a few gaps in the others, such as "Culture and Thought" and "Ethnicity" needs (which to be honest I feel like many of my lower division classes were exactly within these subjects)... many of the courses I need for my major also don't overlap on the General Catalog list in letter and number. Alumni, other transfers: have you petitioned to get credit for another course within the series that didn't necessarily have the same letter as those listed in the Catalog?

Bleh! Otherwise, hope everyone is having a good year!

yes, if the class is listed with ENGR: Area WRT - Writing or L&S : Area WRT - Writing, then it fulfills one course requirement for the 6 writing course requirements.

if you use assist.org, then you can see which of the cc courses you took transfer over to sb and what the equivalent is.

okay, cool. thanks! glad i will get the writing requirement done in time. i have used assist plenty… there are just a few classes i have taken that i cannot believe don’t count for other areas! my “new student profile” has been done so i guess they examined them all and didn’t count some for certain areas… ! for instance: how does one religious studies course i took count for “culture/thought” but the other i took does not? plus there are classes offered next quarter i wanted to take in the same number series that count for “ethnicity” but not the same letter. you know… 115b and 115e count but not 115c, etc. blah blah. a little confusing.
