I just found out that some of my applying schools want the essay to be handwritten. I had to type mine up and print them because I obviously didn't realize it (but I would've done the same since I had like two days until the deadline).
Do they really care about the handwritten stuff? If they do, do I have to write it and send it again or anything?

There are so many things I missed throughout my applications LOL. I forgot to have my mom's signature on the school report sheet, forgot to include my pictures for two schools, and I also forgot to submit the special recommendation form for Loomis, which doesn't really matter because it's optional.

I guess I should better try hard to organize myself ..LOL

Even after the deadline has passed, you can send in items. Especially items like the optional recommendation form. Your application will be deemed complete. They're not going to take a timely application and post-date it so that it's untimely because an optional recommendation was received after the deadline. And they're not going to toss the optional recommendation because it came in too late. If it will improve their understanding of who you are and what you have to offer, absolutely get it in! I assume you regard this as an important juncture in your life...so why cut corners?

Similarly, with the picture: send it in separately if you think it will help jog their memory or make you stand out. (Typically, I think admission offices like to have a face to associate with the data that they assemble. My thought on that is that they should just put random pictures with the files...or, better yet, take pictures at the interview...to give them the visual hooks they like to have. I think Exeter does that.)

You can't do anything about mom's missing signature...except, perhaps, have her sign a letter waiving a right to review the information. That's one I wouldn't bother being proactive about. If it's an issue for the admission office, they'll tell you. I can't think of anyone who would otherwise be admitted who'd get zapped because mom didn't sign a waiver...not without the admissions office requesting that it be corrected. And it's not going to zap your application because you're not a good "rule follower." Don't get too caught up with those mind games in the application process. If it's your school that needs that signature before sending the form, again they'll tell you. And if it delays your school information a few days past the deadline...like I said above: it won't be a problem. While there MAY be a school that's particular about looking at postmarks on the student portion of application materials, they're not so uptight about the third-party information -- particularly if it arrives before your materials get circulated for review and it doesn't hold up anyone. And the difference of a few days -- while the admission office is slogging through mountains of mail -- will hardly be noticed even by the mail clerks.

Good luck!

So what schools did you end up applying to?

Just e-mail the schools that asked for handwritten essays and ask them if they want to send a handwritten copy.

I ended up applying to Concord, Loomis Chaffee, Peddie, Mercersburg, and Hill. But this was pretty much my "last-minute" choice lol. I will probably get rejected from Mercersburg because I asked for TOEFL exemption...The adcom told me that they have never done so before. Interview with Hill was like 4:30 in the morning, so I don't even remember what we talked about. Rest of my interview is scheduled between 5:00AM to 7:00AM this week..Damn
Loomis and Peddie wanted the essays to be handwritten. I better go email them now.

...perhaps you can scan a copy of your handwritten essays and e-mail them?
