How are we supposed to submit writing sample?

The instructions should be on the admissions web site, or in the MHC common app. page. But I think my D sent it in by regular mail (actually Express Mail since she was up against the ED deadline, and also sent arts supplement material). MHC admissions does accept actual pieces of paper.

Thank you so much for your swift response. I could not find any mentions about ‘Writing Sample’ at the website and common app / supplement though I had seen it at the website last month. Has Mount Holyoke waived the requirement of writing sample for all? I couldn’t find any mentions about it in the supplement too.

Your reply will be highly appreciated In case I have been wrong, could you please send me the link from the website?

Thank you once again!! :)

I can’t imagine MHC waiving the writing sample as it is a very important part of the application process (and students do much writing at MHC!)

Well, you do have to write an essay (there are 3 choices), see:

http://www.mtholyoke.edu/admission/docs/admission/ComApp.pdf

If you cannot upload that essay to the Common App application, you should mail it to MHC.

When my D applied to MHC in October 2009, she ALSO had to submit a High School graded paper along with teacher comments on the paper, if that is what you are asking about. I checked the MHC and the Common App web pages and found nothing about the graded paper requirement of 2 years ago. It seems that MHC no longer wants the graded paper. Maybe you should send MHC admissions a short e-mail to confirm.

actually i am pretty sure that this year writing sample is optional. also in case that you do not have adequate paper and have legit reason for it (say you are an int’l) you can ask for it to be waived. but like i said i am pretty sure it’s optional from this year on either way.

ConCerndDad was right though, when you have a question like that in mind, you should check official MoHo page ( [Regular Decision :: Admission :: Mount Holyoke College](http://www.mtholyoke.edu/admission/reg_decision.html) ) or e-mail admission. They are all very nice people in admission actually, and will help you great deal with whatever your question is.
