Writing Score Ignored by most Colleges?

From what I've been hearing most colleges still use the 1600 scale except maybe IVY league schools. If this is the case should I focus more on my math/reading scores?

Research what colleges YOU want to apply to and find out whether they require high writing scores or not. Regardless, writing is a fairly easy section involving mostly rote memory of grammar rules. Study enough and you will be fine.

Most colleges consider all sections equal and consider the writing score just as much as the CR score and the math score. A quick way of finding out whether a school considers the writing score is to look on the College Board website–if there is no writing score listed in the ‘SAT/ACT’ section, then the school presumably does not consider it.

For example, Cornell does not: <a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board;
But NYU does: <a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board;
