writing score improvement or luck?

Hi, all
I began taking a well renowned SAT prep course around the beginning of december to prep for the march SAT.
When I first began the course I scored around a 570 on the writing multiple choice.
Then when I took a couple more practice tests I scored a 580 and a 610.
Those tests were not timed and after some more practice I took a timed one and received a 640.
We did a lot of grammar rule practice during the course and covered every grammar rule seen on the SAT
Around the end of the course (beginning of March) I took a timed writing multiple choice test and got a 710.

Do you think my score of a 710 was the result of luck? or could it have been that I improved that much over the course of three months?

p.s. all tests in the course were from past SAT's and were all real

what do you guys believe I scored on the March writing?

No one can tell; try taking an exam in the blue book to see if you can score 700 consistently. In other words, continue prepping (by yourself), because you are probably going to retake it anyway. There is no point in taking a course. “Grammar rules” and other types of study material can be found all over the internet and in prep books.

Based on the information you gave, you may have scored about 650 on the March SAT. The fact that you are wondering if the 710 was “luck” means that you probably aren’t confident enough about your score to score in that range consistently.

If you can get consistent 700s, then it is not luck. If you can only get it once, then it is luck.

it was probably luck if you scored lower twice in a row

yeah i forgot to add that I scored a 680 right after that writing score
but with a 10-12 on the essay I think that my writing score would be above 700 for that practice test

You should also remember that writing is hard to accurately judge when it comes to practice tests since the essay plays such a large role.
