Does Michigan look at the writing score of the ACT? I know it is required that you take the writing portion but for a while some schools were not really looking at it. Does anyone know if UM considers it as part of the overall score? I can't find the answer anywhere on the website.

its not gonna hurt or help your chances. unless you have a terrible writing score.

so a 12/12 is not really going to help?

plenty of students who apply to umich will have a perfect writing score. your scores are only a small portion of your application analysis

how about a 640 on the SAT1 writing? My Math and Reading combined is 1390, so the writing shouldn’t have too much bearing right? OOS btw.

no the writing should not have that much bearing at all. they only really care if you have an extremely low writing score.

Lindsy could you tell us where you received this info? Just wondering because you make many statements that I leave me scratching my head, esp. coming from an 18 year old who hasn’t been admitted yet.
