Writing Section of Any Importance?

I took the SAT twice and my writing score does NOT want to go up. My scores were:

January2007:
M:690
CR:740
W:640

May 2007:
M:800
CR:670
W:650

If I combine the two tests I get a 2190 which isn't the best, but out of 1600, I get a 1540 which is pretty decent.

Do colleges look at my writing score? Because I know most schools say they don't, but they get them anyway.

Is it worth re-taking? My mom thinks that I should.

Thanks.

It depends on college to which you apply. Large majority, including most state schools, are currently not using the writing section for admission at all. However, most private high ranks, ivies and others, are using it like an SAT II.

drusba..if I have 3 SAT IIs that have a higher score than my writing will they count all three of those rather than my writing score or will they take the wriritng and then only my top 2 SAT IIs?? Thanks.

ye same question....i got 750+ on all my SATII's but only a 720 W

ditto.
so far 800 on all but writing i have 690

anyone have an answer lol?
