I'm just curious what weight McGill puts on the writing section of the new SATs. I'm assuming they do put some weight on it since they used to require the writing SAT II for US applicants prior to the new SAT with writing.

I am actually very curious about this as well, as my writing score was my best by 130 points.

Same here. I got 690 math, 630 reading, 740 writing. 2060 sounds a lot better than 1320, which is why I'm hoping they consider it. I applied to engineering and arts and sciences, so maybe they won't care about it..

...anyone?

someone must have some insight on this...?

I'm just doing this on a hunch, but since the writing section is still fairly new, it won't have as much of an impact, as say the math section if you're applying to sciences or a faculty that requires a math. However, if you're applying to Arts or a faculty like that, they'll at least consider it a plus that you did so well on the Writing section, but it's only the second year of giving the writing section, and they still don't have a good median. Don't stress, I'm sure plenty of people are in the same boat... ie. I did the best on Writing as well.
