Writing section?!!

I'm so annoyed at diction. How in the world do you study that?

practice practice prrrrrrrrractice

what about the ones which ask for the tone of the passage in two words…? Ex: tentative approval, ironic understatement, suppressed reverence…? Besides, practice practice prrrrrrracice?

^^what?
Tone is CR…

Diction is tested extremely rarely on the Writing section.

Phasmatis, besides the obvious answer, practice, there are two more things I can think of that may help you. One, the tone of the questions on the SAT are usually less extreme and more towards neutral. For example, qualified appreciation or studied indifference is more likely to be an answer than irate or ebullient. Of course, sometimes the answer will be more extreme but if you are deciding between two chances are the answer will be the one that is less extreme. Also, make sure you actually know the definitions of both words included in the tone. Although this is obvious, it makes it a lot easier when you truly know the full connotation of each tone. And of course, practice and you’ll improve!
