Writing Seminar in Global English

i was wondering if there are any internationals around here who have taken this seminar and can tell me about it. did you particularly benefit from this course or would you say it doesn't seem to be much different from the other writing seminars?? my advisor suggested i take this writing seminar since i'm not a native english speaker and have never studied in english, but i would have to give up the freshman seminars that i really want to take because of time conflicts. is it worth it to give up the freshman seminars that i am actually interested in taking in order to take this course, or will i be ok taking any other writing seminar intended for native english speakers?

also, what is the likelihood of a freshman seminar being offered second semester?

thanks in advance

Take the freshman seminar as your first choice and this English course as the alternative. and the computer will decide for you… :)

hmm i think i’m taking “Owning English” (this one isn’t in the printed pamphlet, just on [Critical Writing @ The University of Pennsylvania](The Marks Family Center for Excellence in Writing))

apparently they “strongly recommend” international students to take a writing seminar in Global English and the content of the course sounds interesting as well, so I think i’ll go for it..i’m just a bit worried about the fact that the instructor isn’t listed on Penn Course Review..and that James Joyce appears on the reading list shudder =)
