is it true that most upper-tier colleges don't weigh the Writing section of the SAT nearly as heavily as the CR/M?

varies from school to school, I know a top LAC which doesn't even consider the writing section yet

try to look at it as a SAT II, just a bit more significant, doing well certainly can't hurt you

thanks!
does anyone know for these colleges:
brown
columbia
claremont mckenna
georgetown
upenn
pomona
stanford
swarthmore

I know one for sure.. georgetown. That requries 3 subjec ttests tho ugh.

oh i see.
the reason i ask is because comparing ACT (w/ and w/out writing) with SAT (w/ writing), I did better on the SAT. But my ACT is higher if only the Verbal/Math section is counted in the SAT..
