I have barely any Extra-Curricular activities, but I want to write because I can actually do that and feel good about it, whereas Math/Science/Debate all reside outside of my field of interest. I have never written anything serious before, but I do Newspaper and Yearbook. Those are very bland though, so I want to become more serious with writing.

Does anybody know a good way to write outside of the typical school related activities? I don't plan on publishing a book because that isn't my style, more opinionated work. But ESPN probably isn't hiring 16 year old columnists as of now :p

P.S. I have read suggestions before about publishing work in a Newspaper, but I don't really know what newspapers they are talking about. The Baltimore Sun is a huge paper, and probably not looking to take work from kids.
