Writing Test?

Hey guys, I'm still a bit confused about the whole writing placement test ordeal. I got a 680+ on my SAT, so I think I've fulfilled the requirement, but I still received a email from Warren reminding me to sign up. Is the email just a friendly reminder? I heard that most people who need to take the test actually receive a letter with tickets(?). If I don't receive anything, does that mean I don't have to worry about it?

Could someone clear this up for me, I don't want to miss any type of deadline if for some strange reason I do need to take the test.

Sorry about the stupid questions, I'd appreciate any help.

it is CLEARLY spelled out on the ucsd writing website:

"Test results that satisfy the Entry Level Requirement include:
* A score of 680 or higher on the SAT Reasoning Test (writing)"

in the future, it is much easier (and much more official, if you're worried about that kind of thing) to reply to the warren email than to post to CC.

yes... you are exempt.

Kind of related, I got a 4 on the AP English Language exam last year (which also satisfies the requirement). However, I submitted my test scores on April 2 and I remember reading somewhere that UCSD wants it by April 1. Will I still have to take the placement test. 'Cause it'd be ridiculous if I did have to take it knowing that I'm already exempt...

I think it's OK, because I sent in my AP scores like 2 weeks ago and I got an email saying I was exempt. If you haven't gotten a letter saying you have to take the tests, I think you are exempt. But I could be totally wrong here...

just think about all those kids who haven't even taken this year's AP exam yet -- think they'll get their scores in by april 1st?

Nope and they will get to pay the $65.00 fee and go take the analytical writing test only to later receive their AP test results and realize they wasted their time and money on another test they didn't need to take. This happened to my d and she was really annoyed.

I'm in the same situation as u, 'cept I haven't sent my scores. I called the office today and they said it's fine if I just send it now. There's no way to send it electronically thru Collegeboard right? have to mail

when do we have to send in our AP scores by? i got a 4 on the ap english test..but i havent sent in my scores yet? ...if we aren't contacted about the test from ucsd does that mean we are ok? thanks for the help everyone!

Btw, its ok if you don't take the test now, ucsd offers 2 or 3 sittings every quarter. Remember, though, that you have to pass that test (or take the basic writing classes and pass the exit exam) to start your college's writing program. I was admitted last year and i just took it this march (i wasn't planning on starting warren writing until my soph year anyway). It is pretty much a slightly longer SAT essay yet they give you 2 hours so its really not that hard.
