Writing the Essay

I am currently a business major applying to economics programs in Stanford and Harvard and I keep running into difficulties when writing my essay. I want to be able to say "Transferring to Harvard/Stanford to study economics is essential for my academic growth because of x,y, and z" but I can't find enough quality information about their economics department from the internet.

What other avenues should I explore to get more information about the economics department so that I can give good reasons why their department is best for me? Thanks in advance.

Maybe you can try calling directly to Harvard & Stanford's economics departments and ask them to send you some brochures and flyers about the programs they offer there--let them know that you want to understand more about their department so you can decide whether to attend there or not...so they will send more info.

And if you live nearby to one of those campuses...you can always drop by :]

You know, they already know about their programs. They know what makes their economics school good. Go from the heart instead. Just say something like smaller class sizes = more one on one with the prof. which is important to me because it makes the school feel tight knit. They don't need to know that their classes have a 12:1 ratio, or that they're strong, or they graduate __%. They want to know what makes that school stand out to you as a person, not by numbers.
