Writing WAY early

I've got a few questions here...

Would it be a good idea to start writing my essays for colleges that I'm already interested in really early? Say, a year or two early? Or should I not bother and wait for the year that they are due, to be sure that the prompt doesn't change?

I'd be glad to have opinions on this.

Wait. Trust me, your opinions and views of the world will change drastically in those two years. Plus, your maturity level will rise, and colleges like to see mature applicants.

One year, the two years was for a friend. Thanks for the input.

A couple of months in advance is fine; otherwise, it'd be kind of silly, considering colleges do this thing called CHANGING THE PROMPTS EVERY YEAR.

Just thought you should know. ;)

"Or should I not bother and wait for the year that they are due, to be sure that the prompt doesn't change?"

I knew that some colleges do, but not all. Thanks!
