writing your own recommendation

Are you guys familliar with this...? Some teachers make you write a paragraph about yourself that you want to be in your rec. HOW DO YOU WRITE ABOUT YOURSELF LIKE THAT? this seems practically harder than the essays... :(

are you serious, i have never heard of this! :( how sad

That's weird. Your personal statement (not to mention the rest of the app) is supposed to be your 'own' rec. My teachers asked me to write a paragraph on why I'm applying, etc.

Just highlight your strengths and interests.

Most teachers we worked with have a questionnaire that has to be filled out, usually with great detail. Many of the questions require a paragraph answer. The teachers probably use a lot of these paragraphs verbatim. Doesn't seem unusual.

At least you're not my counselor. He has a databank of paragraphs and just reuses/rewords them...

that is horrible... ^

you're not --- -X
you don't have---- O
:P

I've been in that situation before. But I was a junior asking for recs for a science program and the teacher was so busy with senior recommendations at the time, so he told me to write my own recommendation (yes the entire thing), and he's sign it at the bottom. I gave up on him and went and asked another teacher. Several teachers at my school do that though. We're a small school, and when a lot of seniors ask the best teachers for recommendations all at once, they get a little overwhelmed. Sad, but real...
