I'm going to be taking the ACT later this year and I can't decide if the writing section is worth it. I have strong writing skills but they tend to kind of fall apart in timed essays and I'm not confident that my score would be great, even with lots of prep. I already took the SAT and got a 750 in writing (all thanks to MC) - if I were to submit both scores to colleges, is the ACT writing section really that important? Should I just suck it up and do it anyway?

Thanks in advance!

do it for sure. ACT writing really isnt that big of a deal colleges care a little but its like the difference between a 3.8 uw gpa and a 3.9. It’s negligible. However, a 12/12 on ACT writing does look good. Read my other post on how to get a 12 on writing. I have gotten two consecutive 12/12 on writing it’s a breeze. ACT is easier than SAT to be honest

Oh good, that’s really comforting to hear! I’m just starting my ACT prep so I don’t know a lot about it. I’ll definitely check out your post. Thank you!
