<p>Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is probably the best-known national one.</p>
<p>There are a few colleges that have ones for high school students. I know BYU has one (here's the site: <a href="http://english.byu.edu/contests/ldshs.asp)%5B/url%5D">http://english.byu.edu/contests/ldshs.asp)</a>, as do Kenyon and Bennington.</p>
