Hey everybody, I have a little bit of a problem. I recently submitted an application to a University that has self-entered grades (does not require a formal transcript) I did not have access to my transcript at this time, so I put my grades down to what I was almost sure I got. I received an acceptance letter about a week later, and took a tour of the school and I absolutely love it. I recently had a credit check with my HS counselor and got my transcript, and a few of my grades were a bit different than what I put. It was only maybe 2 classes that differed by a letter grade. I'm really worried that this might jeopardize my ability to attend that school now and I really dont know if I should just wait and see what happens, or take action and call the University and tell them what happened. It would be great if I could get some honest advice! Thanks!

I’m guessing that they will require an official transcript when you matriculate, so better to inform them of the inaccuracy immediately.

Please take this as a learning experience. Whenever you fill out forms, unofficial just means it doesn’t come from the original source. The information still has to be correct, it doesn’t mean your best guess or an approximation is good enough. You signed your name at the bottom of the application, that acknowledged that the information you gave was accurate.

Thank you for your response, entomom. I’m going to give the college a call and explain what happened, I just pray that I’ll still be considered.

Most likely it’ll be fine, just be honest and tell them what happened.
