Wrong direction with essay response?

So the prompt is asking me to describe an experience of cultural difference and what I learned from it. I want to write about my Muslim friend, who gets made fun of (in a joking way, like "haha can you hook me up with some plutonium?") because if his religion and ethnicity. He takes it in all good, but it reflects this notion we as American have that all Middle Easterners are terrorists. Is this a good response, or is it kinda not what it's asking for?

Well, they ask about what YOU learned, not how it impacted your friend, so I don’t think you should write about something that hasn’t happened to you personally or had some kind of very direct impact on you

if, you learned something from that then ya you could right about it.

I decided to write about my trip to Romania, to visit my dad’s side of the family (which I’ve only seen 3 times). Because it’s just a better idea, thanks guys :)

Ahahahaha “can you hook me up with some plutonium”, that’s pretty funny, no offense. I can honestly say I’ve never heard THAT one.
