I think President Cole is taking Montclair State University in the wrong direction.

Incurring 400 million dollars of debt for construction (some of the buildings necessary, but other things are simply cosmetic at best) rather than adding new academic departments. Improving the aesthetics of the outside is not as important as improving what is inside (such as the dormitories).

The purpose of expansion is to get more students to attend. Unfortunately, adding thousands more people could turn MSU into more of a party school than it already is. Since grade inflation is rampant in high school, just about anybody could get into Montclair just with a token of effort.

Montclair is a school that is good in social studies, teaching, and the arts, but not so much in math and science. There is no engineering program at all.

Does anyone agree with me?
