Wrong email on college apps

If I used the wrong email address on the common application and already submitted it to several colleges for early decision is there anything I can do about it? Do I need to contact the colleges individually or is this a huge mistake and there is nothing that can be done? My email provider dropped a suffix and I didn't realize it until it was too late so I am sure if any emails are sent from the colleges it will come back as invalid. I'm kind of freaking out about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You’re freaking out about it? Why?

Instead of freaking out, I would be calling and emailing the colleges to which I’d applied to have them update my contact information.

When I posted this I was just wondering if the email address was really necessary since they mail the decisions anyway. I’d like to check my status but wasn’t sure if contacting them to point out my mistake would hurt me and if it was worth the chance just so I can check my status. How often do they contact you via email while in the admission process?

After researching more I decided to email the admission counselors at the schools with my updated information and go from there. Hopefully it won’t hurt my chances.

It won’t hurt your chances. It’s just an address. Email addresses are not part of the criteria on which your app is evaluated. You did the right thing correcting it. Don’t give it another thought.
