Okay so I applied to DePaul as EA and decisions come out January 15th BUT my transcript has gotten the wrong GPA. It’s a pretty low GPA and would most definitely affect my chances of being admitted. I tried resolving this problem but I can’t do anything about it until the semester is over and additional time for grades to be submitted. January 15 is like 6 weeks away and the grades MIGHT be finalized in 2 or 3 weeks. That gives me only a couple weeks to get my new transcript submitted. Would it be too late then? Or would they still review my application with my new and correct transcript?
Yes, it would likely be too late.
Who did you talk to at your school? Have you involved your parents or the principal?
How is your GPA wrong?
It isn’t my GPA. The messed up the score which I know sounds weird but that’s literally what happened. That isn’t my unweight nor weight GPA.
My school says that I would have to wait for the semester to be over. Would it still be too late if I were to change my application from early admission to regular?
I don’t exactly understand what is wrong on the transcript but whatever it is, it seems to me the guidance counselor can do a temporary fix by sending a letter to the admissions officer at DePaul explaining the problem and making the correction. I don’t understand why you would have to wait until the semester to be over. I’d get your parents involved.
@happy1 They said they couldn’t do anything to change it until the semester ends because they need to determine my real GPA even though I already have my real GPA on my school’s grading system and I know it’s accurate because I even calculated it myself alongside my teachers. I don’t quite understand it either.
My school’s counselor is hardly ever here but I will try your suggestion of having her write an explanation. Thank you!
I would get your parents involved and have them take the issue up the chain of command if necessary (ex. head of guidance, principal etc.).
Are your grades correct for the individual classes? You might let the college know what’s going on and it will be obvious if the GPA does not match the reported grades. You school is being lazy in not fixing this.
They can certainly do something. They’re just being lazy like another poster said. Have your parents call the principal and get this fixed.
Thank you all. My parents don’t quite understand the problem so I getting help from my teachers. I know many of administrators are being lazy and I will most definitely get this situated when I see my counselor tomorrow.
Are the grades correct, though?
They are missing some classes and only a few are incorrect.
Oh, that’s crazy. They need to fix that ASAP. I would threaten to sue in a letter. Those are your grades and you have a right to them.
Thank you all! I am getting it resolved thanks to your advice and my teacher.
