Wrong Information provided for International Financial Aid

I am an international applicant and applying for financial aid. I need to fill CSS/PROFILE, College Board's International Student Financial Aid Form, and Certification of Finance, and the Grinnell International Financial Aid Form.

We have a very complicated situation here. And I think that I would be kicked out of college for submitting wrong information. My mother's tax return form does not have genuine information. She has genuine bank statements, but I cant work out her genuine income from there. My mother is not helping with anything.

My mom can pay around $9500 per year. the total cost for attending is around $52000 per year.

How risky is it to apply?

You should get in touch with the financial aid people at Grinnell to ask specific questions about completing the forms. You will not be the first international student who has had difficulty coming up with appropriate documentation.

As for the validity of your mother’s tax form, that is not your responsibility: You submit what documentation you have, and she, not you, has to certify to Grinnell that it is accurate. If she misrepresents her financial position, that is something she and Grinnell will need to sort out. You are a student and can not be responsible for what your parents claim is their financial position.

wont I get kicked out of college if they figure out? :(

I doubt it. What they will do, almost certainly, is revise your financial aid package for future semesters to reflect what they feel your family can and should pay and they could try to recover any tuition reductions and subsidies from your parents since they were the ones who misrepresented their financial position. Again, your parent’s tax returns are their responsibility not your.
