hey guys!

so i sent in my common application the other day, and i was stupid and did not research what majors uchicago offered. i entered that my academic interests in the future plans section were in computer engineering, economics, and mechanical engineering.

i found out the next day that uchicago does not offer engineering... but if i were to be accepted at the university of chicago, i would like to major in computer science, which is offered.

will my error in the future plans section hurt my chances of admission?

one additional question: should i email the admissions officer for my area and ask them to change my academic interests?

Not necessary… I put down Agriculture and got in.

I don’t think this will harm your chances of admission in the least. You may want to see if you can change your preferences online or through your admissions counselor, though, just because Chicago has started doing a lot more targeted mailings of major-related information, and if you’re interested in computer science it might be nice to receive information specifically about the program than information that is more specific to econ or generic careers in science and technology.
