i just found out that i typed my social security # wrong… in all of my applications. i’m wondering if this will effect my admissions process? i’m a bit worried.

please anyone? i'm sorta bothered by this

I would contact the admissions offices and give them your real SSN. They will be able to tell you if it caused a processing delay or anything (my guess would be no).

You should contact all the schools and have it corrected asap. Most schools file your application under your SSN and not your name. Your SAT scores are tied with your SSN as well. Also check to see if your transcripts and recs have the correct SSN too.

that's weird, cornell filed ALL of my stuff, with no complaints, and my sat scores have the right SSN number, and my app doesnt.

do do do, does anyone know the mechanics behind ssn numbers? adcoms?

la la la la la

my ap scores have my wrong ssn, along with my college transcript.

they don't match with the real one on my app. let's see what happens.

i guess i have the opposite scenario myself. with the wrong # on my app

i guess my question is , how much time do i have to contact theM? i can only do it this friday. do they verify files and SSn #s after they admit you or before? when they file you?

If you can email us, then.......

you need to change it soon! it will affect your admission because my brother did the same thing. hurry up!

holy crap are you serious?

Stop fussing over what the effect will be and just email/call them to change it! The sooner the better.

Yes, because your social secuiry number is a unique identifier to you, because you can run across people with your same exact name especially if you have a common name, and maybe even someone with your same date of birth.

When you are admitted in to college your studnet ID number will most likely be your social security number.

I would make the change as soon as possible, especially because when your financial aid paper work comes in (as the FAFSA is also ssn driven) you will not match up .

ahh, alright i have time to call them tommorow on friday, does anyone know the consequences? curlyque5000

I would call and tell the college (fortunatley there is only one that got my ap's and college transcript) but I'm afraid they'll think I'm a liar and that I'm using someone else's grades...

just get your social security number changed as soon as possible and everything will be fine. if you don't, then the colleges will not receive your official score reports..there will be an error

Just call CollegeBoard and tell them that you typed it wrong. Give them your real one and the one you typed and explain your situation. You should be fine.
