Wrong ssn on college application

I messed up my ssn on my college application and now my account is merged with someone else’s at the school and they can’t enroll me until they fix it and they don’t know how to fix it. I messed up on the last number:((

Try reaching out to the HS college counselor or the counselor assigned to your HS’s area. They may be able to fix it.

where was this mistake made? common app? direct with the college?

directly with school and i got accepted and everything, but my account was merged with someone else bc the system thought it was me.

Did you contact the college directly? They should be able to fix it.

The college has to unwind it. They cannot use your SSN as a student number or identification, but only for financial aid purposes.

Have them use your student number, which they should have assigned as soon as they received your application.

My daughter ended up with two files and two student numbers. It was their mistake and half of her documents (hs records, ACT scores, etc) never made it to her file, so they kept sending notices that she was missing XXX. Finally figured it out (I did, not the school) after they prevented daughter from registering for spring classes.
