I accidentally used my sister’s SSN on collegeboard for my Sat application, is this a problem? I have already sent my scores, but i put my own SSN on my actual college applications will this cause disruption in my admission process even though the SSN is not required on collegeboard for the SAT?
You might want to contact CB… but I can’t imagine what explanation you might give. CB will be suspicious that you’re committing fraud.
So is there a chance the colleges wont get my scores even though my name, birthdate and school code info. is all correct…im worried…i thought it would not matter since it is not required anyways…
Pick up the phone ASAP to CALL the CB to get it corrected. Do not dither w emailing them.
Don’t mess around. Call the College Board and explain/fix the problem. If the person you’re talking to can’t do it, ask to talk to their supervisor. Your SSN must be yours/the same for all parts of the application/testing. Anything else will raise red flags.
What happens is that various parts of your application don’t get linked up if the algorithm used to tie things together requires a SS# to match. My S didn’t put a SS# on some of his AP exams (his first ones in 10th grade). He added it later to the other exams in 11th and 12th grade. When he didn’t get AP scholar or whatever the honor is for lots of APs, we called to find out. Turns out that he had two unlinked records in their system - the fact that it was the same name, address, school, and birthdate did not trip any flag causing anyone there to wonder if the scores might belong to the same person. Seemed like a ‘duh’ but it was his fault.
We got it corrected, but it was a lesson that an accurate SS# does matter for getting all the parts of the application linked up properly. And don’t worry about being accused of fraud just because you used your sister’s number by mistake. Just fix it and memorize the sucker. You will need it again and again.
