Hey everyone, I have a quick question. So my major is Psychology I applied to UCSB,UCR,UCSD, AND UCI and some other CSU's. My goal is to transfer to UCSB, however I have a big problem I am taking Math 227 which is stats. at LACC, but the only stats. class that satisfies the pre-req for my major is Math 225. For some reason at others schools you can take either or and so that is why I thought I would be fine with that class. If I explain to UCSB on why I did not satisfy the math requirement during winter will they even take that into consideration?

I looked up LACC on assist and Math 227 is an IGETC math course, so you did fulfill the transferable math course requirement.
- Do you need to take all courses articulated for your major?
- Do you have enough units so that you can take the other math class in spring?
You’ll probably not get credit for one of the courses but if you’ll still have enough units that probably won’t really matter.
Anyway, if the answer is yes to both questions resubmit the transfer update. I did that and it’s apparently totally OK. I called in and asked if you need to tell the UCs this individually and they said"no." It’s enough to make a comment in the additional comment box.

What is the difference between the two classes? If they are substantially the same in content and rigor, Math 227 might be accepted in place of Math 225. The problem is that it does not sound very likely to me that the same college would offer two different courses unless they differed in some significant way.

The course descriptions for Math 225 and 227 look similar (both are non-calculus-based introductory probability and statistics courses); Math 225 is listed at the bottom under archived courses that are not currently being offered.
