Oh boy… so I just found out that the wrong grades were sent to all of the colleges I applied to. To give a brief overview of what happened, the marks submitted to my school’s computer system were just a repeat of the exact same grades I got last year (I’m in IB, so my courses are the same over two years). So the report card I received had the correct marks, but they were uploaded incorrectly onto the system. As a result, it looks like my grades took a big dip (didn’t do so well junior year, but I really pulled up in grade twelve). My counselor says that she’ll call the universities and see if there’s any chance of appeal, but I applied to places like Princeton and Amherst, and it says that rejected applicants can’t appeal a decision. I just wanted to check if there was anyone who’d successfully gotten in after something like this happened before I start getting my hopes up.
Well, if anyone ever had grounds for appeal, you certainly do. I can’t predict, but I would think that an error like this would be grounds for reconsideration, regardless of a school’s “no appeals” policy.
@dodgersmom I sure hope so! This is such a nightmare…
This is very upsetting. I think you need to get your parents involved. Your principal needs to be informed and I feel like the head of your school district (or if you are at a private school the head of the Board of Trustees) should be the one calling the colleges asking them to reconsider you.
Schools have a fiduciary responsibility to accurately report student’s transcripts. Not doing so is a huge deal. IMO
