I applied to USC for fall 2020. I transferred to my current high school halfway through freshmen year, but my counselor and I just noticed that my first semester transcript had been incorrectly transferred to my current school. The mistake on the transcript was that they said I completed my first semester of high school in “15-16” and second semester in “16-17”, making it look like I had a gap in my schooling (the numbers are small and usually unnoticeable, but admissions officers must be better at catching those things). The second mistake was that one of my courses was stated twice, it said “PrinBioMed” twice, rather than “PrinBioMed” and “Biology”. I stated my courses correctly on the common app, but my counselor sent in the messed up “official” transcript.
We corrected the transcript and our school registrar is going to send another official transcript (where the coursework is correct). My counselor also needs to send in a midyear report and that will have the correct courses.
My question is, should I contact USC and let them know why there is a difference between the transcripts they are receiving? My counselor said that it should be fine, but USC says that they can reject you if “There was false or misleading information provided in the admission process.” I’m not sure if the original transcript will provide misleading information. Thank you in advance.
Contact your USC admissions representive for your high school and copy paste pretty much the first paragraph above describing the errors and let them know a new transcript is being sent. Don’t make it longer than that, no blah blah blah, just concise and to the point. This is more about getting the right info to them in a timely fashion than the errors being a big deal.

I would also ask for a quick reply acknowledging he/she received your email.
So something like this,
then wrap it up with a kind sign off.
They will not see it as misleading or anything unethical so don’t worry about that. It will not negate a thing, but get the info to them asap including mid-year report, that should be there!
Good luck!
